Standard & Poor's (S&P) downgrade of US debt should be seen as the joke it is. The rating agency, which gave investment grade ratings to hundreds of billions of dollars of subprime mortgage-backed securities, made an accounting error of $2 trillion in doing its assessment of the US financial situation.
However, when this error was called to S&P's attention, it still went ahead with the downgrade. Just like the war in Iraq, the policy was decided in advance of the evidence.
The nonsense with the S&P downgrade is yet another distraction - after four months of haggling over the debt ceiling idiocy - from the real problem facing the country: a downturn that has left 25 million people unemployed, underemployed or out of the labor force altogether. Tens of millions of people are seeing their career hopes and family lives wrecked by the prospect of long-term unemployment.

The piece, trumpeted as the most detailed account to date of the May 1 raid in Abbottabad Pakistan, was an instant hit. “Got the chills half dozen times reading @NewYorker killing bin Laden tick tock…exquisite journalism,” tweeted the digital director of the PBS show Frontline. The author, freelancer Nicholas Schmidle, was quickly featured on the Charlie Rose show, an influential determiner of “chattering class” opinion. Other news outlets rushed to praise the story as “exhaustive,” “utterly compelling,” and on and on.
To be sure, it is the kind of granular, heroic story that the public loves, that generates follow-up bestsellers and movie options. The takedown even has a Hollywood-esque code name: “Operation Neptune’s Spear”
Here’s the introduction to the mission commander, full of minute details that help give it a ring of authenticity and suggest the most intimate reportorial access:
James, a broad-chested man in his late thirties, does not have the lithe swimmer’s frame that one might expect of a SEAL—he is built more like a discus thrower. That night, he wore a shirt and trousers in Desert Digital Camouflage, and carried a silenced Sig Sauer P226 pistol, along with extra ammunition; a CamelBak, for hydration; and gel shots, for endurance. He held a short-barrel, silenced M4 rifle. (Others SEALs had chosen the Heckler & Koch MP7.) A “blowout kit,” for treating field trauma, was tucked into the small of James’s back. Stuffed into one of his pockets was a laminated gridded map of the compound. In another pocket was a booklet with photographs and physical descriptions of the people suspected of being inside. He wore a noise-cancelling headset, which blocked out nearly everything besides his heartbeat.
On and on went the “tick-tock.” Yet as Paul Farhi, a Washington Post reporter, noted[5], that narrative was misleading in the extreme, because the New Yorker reporter never actually spoke to James—nor to a single one of James’s fellow SEALs (who have never been identified or photographed–even from behind–to protect their identity.) Instead, every word of Schmidle’s narrative was provided to him by people who were not present at the raid. Complains Farhi:
…a casual reader of the article wouldn’t know that; neither the article nor an editor’s note describes the sourcing for parts of the story. Schmidle, in fact, piles up so many details about some of the men, such as their thoughts at various times, that the article leaves a strong impression that he spoke with them directly.
That didn’t trouble New Yorker editor David Remnick, according to Farhi:
Remnick says he’s satisfied with the accuracy of the account. “The sources spoke to our fact-checkers,” he said. “I know who they are.”
But we don’t.
On a story of this gravity, should we automatically join in with the huzzahs because it has the imprimatur of America’s most respected magazine? Or would we be wise to approach it with caution?

Could the Pentagon Be Responsible for Your Death? The Military’s Marching Orders to the Jihadist World
Put what follows in the category of paragraphs no one noticed that should have made the nation’s hair stand on end. This particular paragraph should also have sent chills through the body politic, launched warning flares, and left the people’s representatives in Congress shouting about something other than the debt crisis.
Last weekend, two reliable New York Times reporters, Eric Schmitt and Thom Shanker, had a piece in that paper’s Sunday Review entitled “After 9/11, an Era of Tinker, Tailor, Jihadist, Spy.” Its focus was the latest counterterrorism thinking at the Pentagon: deterrence theory. (Evidently an amalgam of the old Cold War ideas of “containment” and nuclear deterrence wackily reimagined by the boys in the five-sided building for the age of the jihadi.) Schmitt and Shanker’s article was, a note informed the reader, based on research for their forthcoming book, Counterstrike: The Untold Story of America’s Secret Campaign Against Al Qaeda.
And here’s the paragraph, buried in the middle of their piece, that should have stopped readers in their tracks:
“Or consider what American computer specialists are doing on the Internet, perhaps terrorist leaders’ greatest safe haven, where they recruit, raise money, and plot future attacks on a global scale. American specialists have become especially proficient at forging the onscreen cyber-trademarks used by Al Qaeda to certify its Web statements, and are posting confusing and contradictory orders, some so virulent that young Muslims dabbling in jihadist philosophy, but on the fence about it, might be driven away.”

These 19 hijackers, devout religious fundamentalists who liked to drink alcohol, snort cocaine, and live with pink-haired strippers, managed to knock down 3 buildings with 2 planes in New York, while in Washington a pilot who couldn’t handle a single engine Cessna was able to fly a 757 in an 8,000 foot descending 270 degree corskscrew turn to come exactly level with the ground, hitting the Pentagon in the budget analyst office where DoD staffers were working on the mystery of the 2.3 trillion dollars that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had announced “missing” from the Pentagon’s coffers in a press conference the day before, on September 10, 2001.
Luckily, the news anchors knew who did it within minutes, the pundits knew within hours, the Administration knew within the day, and the evidence literally fell into the FBI’s lap. But for some reason a bunch of crazy conspiracy theorists demanded an investigation into the greatest attack on American soil in history.
The investigation was delayed, underfunded, set up to fail, a conflict of interest and a cover up from start to finish. It was based on testimony extracted through torture, the records of which were destroyed. It failed to mention the existence of WTC7, Able Danger, Ptech, Sibel Edmonds, OBL and the CIA, and the drills of hijacked aircraft being flown into buildings that were being simulated at the precise same time that those events were actually happening. It was lied to by the Pentagon, the CIA, the Bush Administration and as for Bush and Cheney…well, no one knows what they told it because they testified in secret, off the record, not under oath and behind closed doors. It didn’t bother to look at who funded the attacks because that question is of “little practical significance“. Still, the 9/11 Commission did brilliantly, answering all of the questions the public had (except most of the victims’ family members’ questions) and pinned blame on all the people responsible (although no one so much as lost their job), determining the attacks were “a failure of imagination” because “I don’t think anyone could envision flying airplanes into buildings ” except the Pentagon and FEMA and NORAD and the NRO.
The DIA destroyed 2.5 TB of data on Able Danger, but that’s OK because it probably wasn’t important.
The SEC destroyed their records on the investigation into the insider trading before the attacks, but that’s OK because destroying the records of the largest investigation in SEC history is just part of routine record keeping.
NIST has classified the data that they used for their model of WTC7′s collapse, but that’s OK because knowing how they made their model of that collapse would “jeopardize public safety“.
The FBI has argued that all material related to their investigation of 9/11 should be kept secret from the public, but that’s OK because the FBI probably has nothing to hide. The killing of Osama Bin Laden did not put cuts in national security spending on the table, but the debt-ceiling debate finally did. And mild as those projected cuts might have been, last week newly minted Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta was already digging in his heels and decrying the modest potential cost-cutting plans as a "doomsday mechanism” for the military. Pentagon allies on Capitol Hill were similarly raising the alarm as they moved forward with this year’s even larger military budget.
None of this should surprise you. As with all addictions, once you’re hooked on massive military spending, it’s hard to think realistically or ask the obvious questions. So, at a moment when discussion about cutting military spending is actually on the rise for the first time in years, let me offer some little known basics about the spending spree this country has been on since September 11, 2001, and raise just a few simple questions about what all that money has actually bought Americans.

“War is a Racket.” This is the title of a book and a speech given by the late Major GeneralSmedley Butler, USMC. Long time readersof Veterans Today have probably heard of him, but despite the fact that he wasa two time winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, most history books leaveout his name. Why do they do this?
Perhaps because after a very distinguished career in the Marines, he realized that most of his work in the military was in reality acting as a mob enforcer for the wealthy and their corporations.
Butler also deserves a special spot among America’s great for exposing the plot to stage a military coup and take control of the US government. A coup in the USA? Sounds like something you would expect in some “Banana Republic”, but never here. It would have probably succeeded if not for Butler’s patriotism, the real thing, not what now passes for patriotism.
Who plotted this coup and why? In the summer of 1933, newly elected President Roosevelt was working hard to try to end the great depression. Part of his plan included a redistribution of wealth to aid the less fortunate. This angered the rich and powerful who had made millions and billions during the depression mostly on the backs of the poorest. (Sounds a bit like today, doesn’t it)
Members of the most wealthy families and corporations joined in a secret plot to overthrow Roosevelt by military force. The families leading the insurrection included the DuPonts, the Morgans, The Goodyears, the Bush family (Yes, that Bush family), General Motors leadership, Chase Bank, and many other of the rich and powerful. They planned to recruit an army of 500,000 retired military to march on the White House and seize control of the government to again make this a safe place for robber barons.

A minor industry exists in the Jewish world to create legends about Jonathan Pollard, one of which is his loyal wife Esther is fighting for his release. All was going well until Pollard's wife Ann came to town and spilled the beans. The following article in Yediot Ahronot paints Ann as disturbed and greedy, just the type of wife who would have enjoyed the good life and encouraged Jonathan to spy some more to keep it going.
Ignoring her sad plight, she made two notable points. One is that Netanyahu personally arranged her immigration to Israel, with all that this implies. Her second lucid point is that she never received divorce papers from Jonathan, meaning they are still married.
Pollard, however, tells a different story. She claims that even before contacting the consul she tried to reach out for help through the Israeli embassy, but was "thrown out on the street." Pollard insists that she was brought to Israel only after Netanyahu intervened, but states that she has not been looked after since.

Jonathan's sister Carol Pollard: "This woman visited Jonathan one time and announced that she is engaged. I think it is very strange, because she announced this to the media and not to his family. I asked Jonathan on the phone whether this was true and he laughed. The next time she went to visit Jonathan she came back with this story about a wedding. I inquired at the prison and discovered that no such wedding took place. Since then, she photographed Jonathan and herself at the prison a few times at different intervals. Each time she reported that these pictures were taken at their wedding, even though she is wearing different clothes in each picture."
According to a whole host of polls and surveys, the American people are incredibly angry right now. The American people are hopping mad at the government, the American people are hopping mad about the economy and the American people are hopping mad about the direction that this country is headed. Never before in modern U.S. history have the American people been this angry. There is vast disagreement about what the solutions to our problems actually are, but what everyone can agree on is that the American people are absolutely seething with anger right now. The statistics that you are about to read are mind blowing. We used to be such a happy country. Once upon a time we were one of the happiest places on earth. But as the economy has fallen to pieces anger has been steadily growing. If something is not done to turn the economy around eventually this anger is going to erupt in frightening and unpredictable ways.
Throughout history the existence and reasons for the use of “false-flag” attacks have been understood only by insiders within the highest levels of government, the military and intel. Recently, after the 9/11 attacks the Internet (World Wide Web, WWW) has allowed citizen researchers to connect the dots and dig out and share information which previously would never have been so easily discovered and so widely available.
“False-flag” attacks provide a justification for a country’s leaders to use their military or special forces to attack, or enter into a war or declare war on an enemy or enemy construct, thereby providing a convenient pretext for a war which would not otherwise be acceptable to the populace of a nation-state. And some enemies are imaginary only such as the “war on drugs” where the government itself brings in and distributes the illegal drugs; or take the current “war on terror” where the US government has used its own disguised forces to pose as terrorists and at other times using “cutouts” they train, finance and direct to commit terrorist acts, sometimes with these cutout being mind kontrolled black operatives.
These self-inflicted, inside job terrorist attacks are then typically followed by the government then labeling any citizen that dissents as a “potential terrorist”, and then proceeding to pass highly restrictive laws that shred the US Constitution, take away Habeas Corpus, prescribe and allow torture even of young children including the crushing of their testicles in young male children if the state deems this is necessary to gain useful intel. The US Government actually obtained opinions from its own legal counsel during the Bush 2 administration that these measures were legal and justified.
Also approved was the use of illegal, “extraordinary renditions” where suspected terrorists or dissidents labeled as such are kidnapped (even from American soil and some even US Citizens), bagged over their head, tagged, hog-tied and taken to a black site secret prison or ghost ship in a foreign country to be incarcerated, tortured and in some cases murdered, all done under the false cloak of protecting “national security”. When such renditions are made within the US or it’s territories, it is considered illegal by the government perpetrators for neighbors or families or any witnesses to contact media or anyone else about this (as they are so informed) and the victims are not allowed an attorney or any legal representation at all. They are considered “enemy combatants” by the government, stripped of all their rights and treated outside the Geneva Convention with no state of war having been declared against any other nation. The so-called “war” is an imaginary war waged against a convenient, phony construct that exists only as a conjured deep-cover black ops intel entity disguised as “the enemy”, minimally comprised of mind kontrolled deviants who have been trained, motivated, financed, and actuated by the highest echelons within the shadow government.
And now some of the most senior US Senators are attempting to pass new laws making it legal to remove anyone’s citizenship if the state suspects them of being a terrorist (no proof will be required, just the opinion of the state or state department and only a Congressional ruling would then even allow their abduction to be acknowledged and their location of imprisonment revealed. These laws if passed will allow these criminal, unconstitutional acts of kidnapping and other related crimes against humanity by government to continue and even increase in frequency across a wider spectrum of society and will permit the mass seizure of anyone who opposes the newly emergent tyranny of government, even if such opposition is completely Constitutional and within the usual rule of law. This of course suggests that the USA is now being Nazified and following a similar course to what occurred in Germany in the 1930s. Many of the phrases now being used in the newly emerging structure of government including the gun control laws being passed have been extracted from Nazi Germany, such as “homeland security”. In fact, some of the gun control laws have been translated and extracted almost word for word.
This is going to be a bit of a rant, but I’m sure most of you are already long gold and silver, so I don’t need to talk about that. I’m sure most of you know to avoid U.S. government bonds, so I don’t need to talk about that either. I like to think of my readers as the exact opposite of our leaders; that is, you’re smart.
When I meet people in person, I try to avoid all topics involving economics and finance because it does no good to tear down people’s arguments. I fight my battles with facts, and this is an ill-advised strategy when you talk to people who brandish subjective arguments. But when it comes to our leaders, I tear down arguments with pleasure. They are mortgaging the future of our children by giving them an insurmountable debt burden, and this is a moral issue that bothers me.
Our leaders have been consistently wrong: How naive do you have to be to believe them over and over again? Bernanke said there would be no more quantitative easing, and people actually believed him? We had a chance to preemptively solve this crisis, but everyone had their heads in the sand. Everyone shrugged their shoulders and said “oh well, we’ll deal with it when the crisis comes.” Instead of honest, intelligent debate, concerned Americans received ad hominem attacks. Now if this isn’t the definition of stupidity, please tell me what is.
Things have changed since last year. Dr. Judy Wood came out with her new book, "Where did the Towers Go?", an excellent addition to any serious 9/11 researcher's library. By golly if that book didn't get me into the directed energy weapon camp.

Nations fall if justice is not pursued. Only we can save it.

It appears that the organizers of the Toronto 9/11 hearings have utterly caved to pressure and thrown fairness and common sense under the bus in the process.
April Gallop, who was injured in the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001 along with her infant son, has been removed from the list of witnesses at the upcoming hearings (Sept. 8-11), to be replaced by an “unconfirmed” witness. If that replacement is assigned to make the case that a 757 did, in fact, hit the Pentagon then truthers everywhere should scream bloody murder.
I really hope that the disappearance of Gallop’s name from the schedule on torontohearings.org has some innocent explanation (no official reason has been given), but I’m not optimistic. Her appearance was to have been in video form.
For Graeme MacQueen, the word is – or should be – consensus.
MacQueen, a member of the steering committee for the Toronto 9/11 Hearings (Sept. 8-11), says the event was conceived as an opportunity to reach people who are not yet convinced that 9/11 was an inside job, and to show how the evidence does not support the official story. He says the fight over whether a 757 did or did not hit the Pentagon should be put on the back burner so that the hearings can succeed in raising awareness with the public and the media.
“The movement has been tearing itself apart with respect to what hit the Pentagon,” MacQueen said in an interview. “It doesn’t make sense.”

9/11 appears to have been a classic “false flag” operation in which an attack is planned by one source but blamed upon another. In this case, the evidence suggests neo-cons in the Department of Defense and their allies in the Mossad were actually responsible for the execution of the atrocities of 9/11. That story was buried, however, in a surfeit of alternative explanations for which the evidence was far more tenuous but which were of much greater political utility. And in each case, qualified experts uncovered evidence that induced sincere but false beliefs that they were “the real deal”.
The situation encountered with regard to 9/11 turns out to be far more sophisticated than the efforts that were made to divert attention from the conspirators in the case of the assassination of JFK, where “Track #1”, as we might call it, implicated Lee Harvey Oswald as “the lone assassin”. Track #2 suggested that he working for Fidel Castro and that Cuba had done it. Track #3 was redirected domestically to encompass the mob, while Track #4 targeted the Soviet Union. But these were superficial distractions for which most of the evidence was flimsy and inconclusive. 9/11 presents a greater challenge to unpack, because in this case, planted evidence was more extensive and appeared to be real.

1,548 Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth recently released a must-see, 15-minute documentary entitled Solving the Mystery of World Trade Center 7. Why did they focus on the destruction of 47-story modern steel skyscraper WTC Building 7, which imploded despite the fact that it was not hit by a plane? Because it proves beyond any reasonable doubt that the World Trade Center buildings were destroyed by controlled demolition.
Many years ago I read a fascinating discussion of the “tactics of mistake.” This essentially entailed using a target’s prejudices and preconceptions to mislead them as to the origin and intent of the attack, entrapping them in a tactical situation that later worked to the attacker’s strategic advantage.
This is what unfolded in the 9/11 attacks that led us into the matrix of wars and conflicts, present (Afghanistan and Iraq), planned (Iran and Syria) and projected (Jordan and Egypt), that benefit Israel and no other country — although I concede that many private contractors and politicians are doing very well for themselves out of the death and misery of others.
I am also absolutely certain as a strategic analyst that 9/11 itself, from which all else flows, was a classic Mossad-orchestrated operation. But Mossad did not do it alone. They needed local help within America (and perhaps elsewhere) and they had it, principally from some alumni of PNAC (the misnamed Project for a New American Century) and their affiliates within and outside of the US Government (USG), who in the 9/11 attacks got the “catalytic event” they needed and craved to take the US to war on Israel’s behalf, only eight months after coming into office.

I have never bothered schooling myself in the minutiae of 911-ology — the microscopic examination of photos and videos, the comparison of melting points and mechanical properties of this or that construction material, the second-by-second timetable of U.S. Air Force activity on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. The Sacred Myth of 9/11 as Propaganda for Aggressive War
Jonathan Kay’s Among the Truthers was written to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the contested events of 9/11. Its contents vividly illustrate the strategic geopolitical importance of the public’s changing perception of the hit on the Pentagon and the pulverization of the three World Trade Centers on September 11, 2001.
Most of Kay’s core arguments in the text are undermined by the author’s self-confessed decision not to address directly the empirically-verifiable proof pertaining to what did or did not happen on 9/11. Kay’s zeal to avert any hard reckoning with the complex body of evidence underlying his radical conclusions helps to shed light on the culture of cover-up and propaganda necessary to keep the sacred myth of 9/11 alive in the public’s imagination.
One of the biggest lies of 9/11 involves the all-purpose boogeyman known as al-Qaeda. The claim is often advanced either explicitly or implicitly that this caricatured embodiment of Islamic evil somehow extricated itself from the CIA and the other related agencies that founded the anti-communist proxy army of Islamic jihadists who in the 1980s overturned with US backing the Soviet-backed puppet regime in Afghanistan. Kay simply goes along with the prevalent public mythology constructed to present al-Qaeda as a credible replacement for the now-defunct Soviet enemy in order to justify the further expansion, empowerment and privatization of the world’s most formidable and expensive military-industrial complex.
A very detailed interpretation of al-Qaeda as the primary villain of 9/11 was fed into the echo chambers of the mainstream media from the first hours following the attacks until the present day. This interpretation has had the predictable outcome of driving a wedge between Islam and those adhering to a narrowed construction of the so-called West.
Bruecke Note: With the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 upon us, the corporate media is continuing its conspiratorial role in keeping the world and us from the truth. A prime example is Jonathon Kay, author of Among the Truthers: A Journey Through America’s Growing Conspiracist Underground.and in my humble opinion a Jewish disinformation whore extraordinaire, who has made his rounds to various programs recently. Does he discuss legitimate points brought up by the 9/11 Truth Movement, like observable and measurable 100 feet of free-fall in WTC-7? No. Instead, he prefers ad hominem of 9/11 truthers in the form of a psychological analysis, liberally paraphrased: "9/11 Conspiracy Truthers are highly educated, rational, and fucking loony."
Mr. Kay first came to my attention as being on some sort of propaganda tour with this "On Point" NPR special program. Mr. Kay and Mr. James Meigs ( editor-in-chief of Popular Mechanics magazine and wrote forward and afterward the Popular Mechanics’ book and 9/11 hit-piece Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can’t Stand Up to the Facts) were given the first 15 minutes to lay the ground work. The substitute moderator, Jane Clayson, showed her bias in the framing of her questions. The one member of the 9/11 Truth Movement she invited, Kevin Ryan, was given all of 5 minutes of air time, where he had to dodge mal-framed questions and keep our focus on salient points. The comments to this are starting to wane at over 3,000. On Point and NPR were taken to task for this dreadful hatchet job.
We should be learning with someone like Mr. Kay, whenever they say something like "it wasn't Israel and that just shows the level of bigoted jew-hating in the 9/11 Truth Movement", by golly, that is a flag to look into Israel and certainly Mossad's potential role.
Canadian Public Broadcasting was in the tour. Canadian Public Broadcasting TV Station TVO Interviewed AE911Truth's Richard Gage, AIA, Barrie Zwicker (Towers of Deception), Author Paul Zarembka on the program "The Agenda" with Steve Paikin.
The first part is all Mr. Jonathon Kay, and he doesn't disappoint in giving wave-off's where he doesn't want the public to look, like into Mossad. He does his best to frame 9/11 Truthers. The first part lays the propaganda on so heavy, it is hard to stomach, but worth viewing to learn all of the areas where he doesn't want the public to look.
Steve Paikin, the moderator, showed where his biases lie in the framing of his questions and trying to corner certain panelists (e.g., Paul Zarembka) into donning labels, that while true are also loaded.
Mr. Gage did the best at steering the discussion to rational areas. However, they program did not purchase enough satellite time, so he was out of the picture for the later discussions.
Barrie Zwicker did the best job of clean Mr. Kay's clock. However, he weakened his argument by taking Mr. Kay's book personally. Although this was justified, Mr. Zwicker's focus on himself prevented him from enlightening us to the lies of Mr. Kay that were larger in nature.
Mr. Kay has been elsewhere on his media tour. The trend line involves how Mr. Kay frames 9/11 truthers as crazy, frames opponents as "jew haters", etc. He is such an overt example of Cass Sunstein influence.
