John McCain and Joseph Lieberman on Thursday as a standard proposal, as a simple response to the administration's choices in the aftermath of the Christmas Day bombing attempt? A close reading of the bill suggests it would allow the U.S. military to detain U.S. citizens without trial indefinitely in the U.S. based on suspected activity. At this very moment analysts at the National Security Agency some 30 miles north of the White House are monitoring countless flashpoints of data — cellphone calls to “hot” numbers, an e-mail message on a suspicious server, an oddly worded tweet — as they carom around the globe like pinballs in cyberspace.
The snippets of information could conceivably lead them to Anwar al-Awlaki, a fugitive cleric in Yemen whose fiery sermons have inspired violent jihadists. Or to the next would-be underwear bomber. Or, much more likely in the needle-in-a-haystack world of cyber detection, it might lead to nothing at all — at least nothing of any consequence in determining Al Qaeda’s next target.
This is the world of modern eavesdropping, or signals intelligence, as its adherents call it, and for many years it operated in the shadows. “The Puzzle Palace,” the 1983 best seller by James Bamford that remains the benchmark study of the N.S.A., first pulled back the curtain to provide a glint of unwanted sunlight on the place. And the years after the Sept. 11 attacks — a period in which the surveillance agencies’ muscular new role would lead to secret wiretapping programs inside the United States, expansive data-mining operations and more — gave rise to public scrutiny that made the place a veritable greenhouse of exposure.

When losing a discussion on the facts of 9/11, a so-called 9/11 "debunker" will often rely on an old canard to "prove" that 9/11 could not have been an inside job: "So many people want their quarter hour of fame that even the Men in Black couldn't squelch the squealers from spilling the beans," write self-satisfied defenders of the government story. According to the logic of this argument, if there are no 9/11 whistleblowers then 9/11 was not an inside job.
So what if there are 9/11 whistleblowers? What if these whistleblowers come from every level of government and private industry, individuals who have even had their cases vindicated by internal government reports? As you are about to see, there are numerous such whistleblowers and each one is a thorn in the side of those who want to pretend that the 9/11 Commission represents the sum total of knowledge on the 9/11 attacks.
That is precisely why these whistleblowers are not lauded by legislators or trumpeted by the media, but actively suppressed by government officials and the corporate media alike. These courageous insiders have been sidelined, gagged, hounded from their positions and ignored to the point where their stories are virtually unknown among the general public. Vatic Note: Sometimes, the truth is so blatant that no comments are needed, this is one of those times, except to say, what ever is going to happen is after July 2010. Margolis decided that an internal report into the conduct of John Yoo and Jay S. Bybee, who wrote the notorious memos in August 2002, which attempted to redefine torture so that it could be used by the CIA, was mistaken in concluding that both men were guilty of "professional misconduct," and should be referred to their bar associations for disciplinary action.
Instead, Margolis concluded, in a memo that shredded four years of investigative work by the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), the DOJ's ethics watchdog, that Yoo and Bybee had merely exercised "poor judgment." As lawyers in the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC), which is charged with providing objective legal advice to the executive branch on all constitutional questions, Yoo and Bybee attempted to redefine torture as the infliction of physical pain "equivalent in intensity to the pain accompanying serious physical injury, such as organ failure, impairment of bodily function, or even death," or the infliction of mental pain which "result[s] in significant psychological harm of significant duration e.g. lasting for months or even years."

Vatic Note: Lets also remember, those of you on my list, that I had submitted proof to the FBI of fraud the night before the insolvency was announced when sunday evening the Fed Res Chair, Bernanke, Paulson, and Lehman CEO met in NY at about 6 pm and the following Wednesday it was discovered they received $350 million dollars/euros from the Bank of Germany (it was monday morning in Germany) and then proceeded to retain the funds and place the debt into the bailout.
No explanation as to where the funds went or where they are now, someone has $385 million they didn' t have at 6 pm sunday. It obviously didn't go into lehman's company. A cover up? The FBI announced an investigation that day when it came out in the German papers what had happened. Once the investigation was reported, all of a sudden the Bush FBI cancelled it. Why? Would this info below have been exposed if the investigation went forward??? Is that why the smaller fraud got buried??? It also means that both Paulson and Bernanke are also complicit since they were at that meeting according to GATA who had a reporter present outside the meeting and saw them all go inside the building.

The result were his recommendations that those diseases that accompany age would be eliminated from basic guaranteed health care. DERIVATIVES BUBBLE ON SENIORS LIVES
Wall street has set up another derivatives betting on when seniors will die off. They have also rigged another scam to use on Seniors and it goes like this..... seniors have life insurance with cash value. The face value is always much higher than the cash value. When severely strapped for cash, Wall street brokers give the senior 75% of their "CASH VALUE" on their policy which might be only $7,500, but the face value of the policy maybe $100,000.
The senior then signs over that policy to the Banker as beneficiary when he/she dies for that "face value" of the policy of $100,000. The surviving senior spouse gets nothing. You can tell a lot about a psychopath by his lack of humanity and caring for the "least of these".
So now, it becomes important to know just how fast can you make that senior die so those millions in that bubble can be raked into the bankers. Thus policies have been geared to making it harder and harder for them to survive. That is criminal and if intentional, its first degree murder. Remember who owns the politicians.... thus they are included in this scam by the laws they pass that aid these bankers in their objectives. This is beyond Satanic.
I put this here because its plain that this is an added movement toward taking away the support seniors need to "survive". Between the cost of drugs, the cut back in medicare, the cut in social security benefits by freezing COLA's for TWO years.... cutting food stamps, LEAP and heat subsidies, forbidding cheaper drugs from Canada and now this to take even more away from the seniors, is moving wholesale into killing off our seniors through public policy which officially MAKES EUGENICS THE POLICY OF THE LAND. (VN: that is called "A crime against humanity")
If you cannot produce as a slave you will not receive benefits and will be genocided out of the nation using public policy. That is seniors, seriously and permantly wounded vets, the handicapped, etc. Its going to be a killer commentary when its finished.
In this instance, as usual, its the bankers who made out since they have all been paid off on those debts through government guarantees. No mention of any means test on these either.
In some cases down right fraud has occurred in cheating seniors out of their income when in fact they never owed the debt or had paid it off previously. (VN: This is rampid and because there is no statute of limitations, seniors don't know enough to save their documentation after 9 years when everything else is pass the statute of limitations so most throw their documentation away. You have to be truly soul-less to steal from seniors as bankers, and its happening more and more. Someone needs to file a class action law suit. ) That will be a whole other article with documentation to prove it. All of this in collusion with the Wall Street bankers. Another bailout? A little–noticed law could soon result in smaller Social Security checks for hundreds of thousands of the elderly and disabled who owe the U.S. money from defaulted loans and other debts more than a decade old.
Social Security benefits are off–limits to creditors, such as credit–card companies and banks. But the U.S. can collect debts to federal agencies by "offsetting," or withholding Social Security and disability payments.
The Treasury currently withholds benefits of 3.1 million Social Security recipients to recover defaulted student–, farm– and small–business loans, unpaid income taxes, amounts veterans owe for health care, and other debts to the government.
Previously, the U.S. hasn't been able to withhold Social Security payments to recover most debts delinquent for more than ten years.
But a provision in the 2008 Farm Bill lifted the ten–year statute of limitations on the government's ability to withhold Social Security benefits in collecting debts other than student loans—for which the statute of limitations was lifted in 1997—and income taxes, where the limit remains 10 years.
This means that a person who defaulted on a small–business loan in 1995, for example, and who is receiving Social Security could be notified that his benefits may be reduced each month until the debt, with interest, fees, and penalties, is paid. The Treasury can withhold 15% of the benefit, though it can't be reduced to below $750. Tax debts have no floor.

In some cases down right fraud has occurred in cheating seniors out of their income when in fact they never owed the debt or had paid it off previously. Social Security benefits are off–limits to creditors, such as credit–card companies and banks. But the U.S. can collect debts to federal agencies by "offsetting," or withholding Social Security and disability payments.
The Treasury currently withholds benefits of 3.1 million Social Security recipients to recover defaulted student–, farm– and small–business loans, unpaid income taxes, amounts veterans owe for health care, and other debts to the government.
Previously, the U.S. hasn't been able to withhold Social Security payments to recover most debts delinquent for more than ten years.
But a provision in the 2008 Farm Bill lifted the ten–year statute of limitations on the government's ability to withhold Social Security benefits in collecting debts other than student loans—for which the statute of limitations was lifted in 1997—and income taxes, where the limit remains 10 years.
This means that a person who defaulted on a small–business loan in 1995, for example, and who is receiving Social Security could be notified that his benefits may be reduced each month until the debt, with interest, fees, and penalties, is paid. The Treasury can withhold 15% of the benefit, though it can't be reduced to below $750. Tax debts have no floor.

For weeks, the U.S. public followed the biggest offensive of the Afghanistan War against what it was told was a "city of 80,000 people" as well as the logistical hub of the Taliban in that part of Helmand. That idea was a central element in the overall impression built up in February that Marja was a major strategic objective, more important than other district centres in Helmand.
It turns out, however, that the picture of Marja presented by military officials and obediently reported by major news media is one of the clearest and most dramatic pieces of misinformation of the entire war, apparently aimed at hyping the offensive as a historic turning point in the conflict.

“Nobody planned what happened, but anger erupts when it has been building for so long. That’s what happens,” said Callie Maidhof, a student activist at UC Berkeley. “[The regents] are effectively closing off the campus, making it less accessible, and those already here are getting less out of their education.”
The University of California system, made up of 10 campuses with nearly 160,000 students, has long been the envy of other states. For many years, UC has provided a low-cost, world-class education, and scholars and politicians alike have noted the role of the UC schools in building California’s middle class. In recent years, however, the system has been battered by the state’s ongoing budget crisis.
California, which has the sixth largest economy in the world, has been hard hit by the economic crisis. Rising unemployment has caused a drop in the state’s income tax revenues and lawmakers have been reluctant to raise taxes, leaving the state government with little choice except to make severe budget cuts.

Then I heard the talk show host at Texas radio station KLIF (http://www.klif.com) trying to discredit her half-baked answer to Beck's questioning about US government involvement in 9/11. I wondered which position she would commit to.
Soon thereafter, I got my answer. I went to Medina's website where there was a transcript of the official Medina statement (http://www.medinafortexas.com/getPost?p=272) about the Beck interview. With that, she chickened out and blew itin essence denying 9/11 Truth for political expediency. So I immediately wrote her off as a possible patriot just as I have written off her mentor Ron Paul. She was probably "advised" to say that politically correct BS, because 9/11 is being used as a litmus test to discredit patriotic candidates for public office in the eyes of the brainwashed and non-thinking populace. Jesse Ventura is the only person I can think of who might have the stones to talk straight about 9/11 in a political campaign.

I feel guilt everytime I see a mother with her children like the one who cried hysterically and screamed that we were worst than Saddam, as we forced her from her home.

WASHINGTON, May 16, 2002 - President Bush was expected to sign detailed plans for a worldwide war against al-Qaida two days before Sept. 11 but did not have the chance before the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, U.S. and foreign sources told NBC News.
The document, a formal National Security Presidential Directive, amounted to a “game plan to remove al-Qaida from the face of the earth,” one of the sources told NBC News’ Jim Miklaszewski.
The plan dealt with all aspects of a war against al-Qaida, ranging from diplomatic initiatives to military operations in Afghanistan, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

WHEN A SIMPLE IMMIGRANT FARMER discovered what seemed to be an ancient stone with “Vikingstyle” runes inscribed on it in Minnesota, people said he was crazy or lying. But more than 100 years later, additional discoveries have proved the stele was indeed the real McCoy, although left there by Knights Templar of the Middle Ages rather than Thor-worshipping Norsemen.

Very few books are truly capable of rewriting history, but The Hooked X: Key to the Secret History of North America, by Scott F. Wolter, is certainly one of them. Although the author of this new Revisionist book, who is well known to longtime readers of TBR, is a professional geologist and not a historian, the discoveries made by Wolter in recent years and described in Hooked X are powerful enough to compel a fundamental rethinking of our view of the American past.
The centerpiece of his revelations is that controversial, even contentious artifact known as the Kensington Rune Stone [see TBR, March/April 2002—Ed.].
For those who are unfamiliar with it, this is a 200-pound greywacke sandstone stele found by Swedish immigrant farmer, Olof Ohman, while clearing his land in the largely rural township of Solem, Douglas County, Minnesota, during September 1898. Lying face down and entwined in the roots of a stunted, 30-year-old aspen, the 30-by-16-by-six-inch slab was covered on its face and one side with some sort of runic writing. Ohman brought it to the nearest town, Kensington, where his find was displayed at the local bank.
A badly flawed copy of the inscription was forwarded to the University of Minnesota, where a translation was attempted by Olaus J. Breda. It would take more than another 100 years for scholars, correcting for the imperfect copy, to properly translate the text. The front face reads, “Eight Gotlanders and 22 Norwegians on (this) reclaiming/acquisition journey far west from Vinland. We had a camp by two (shelters?) one day’s journey north from this stone. We were fishing one day. After we came home we found 10 men red with blood and death. Ave Maria. Save from evil.”
Inscribed on the side of the stone are the words, “There are 10 men by the sea to look after our ships 14 days journey from this island. Year 1362.”
PROFESSIONALS JUMP TO DEBUNK ARTIFACT
Although a professor of Scandinavian languages and literature, Breda’s runic knowledge was limited. He hastily proclaimed Ohman’s discovery a transparent hoax. Breda was supported by Norway’s leading archeologist of the late 19th century, Oluf Rygh, and his colleagues at Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois.

On Sunday, in an exclusive interview with Jonathan Karl of ABC News' "This Week," Cheney proclaimed his love of torture, derided the Obama administration for outlawing the practice, and admitted that the Bush White House ordered Justice Department attorneys to fix the law around the administration's policy interests.
"I was a big supporter of waterboarding," Cheney told Karl, as if he were issuing a challenge to officials in the current administration, including President Barack Obama, who said flatly last year that waterboarding is torture, to take action against him. The Justice Department on Friday will begin making its case for new standards allowing law enforcement to use cell phone location data in criminal investigations.
Its case before the U.S. 3rd Court of Appeals in Philadelphia could provide more clarity to a bevy of murky cell phone location tapping laws, but it is sure to upset those who dread any federal encroachment in the realm of digital communications.
