Editor’s note: It looks like defiant Iceland will get a mercenary force of the sort exposed in Hardin, Montana. The E.C.A. website brags about its “seamless compatibility” with NATO. NATO was formed under the auspices of the United Nations’ Charter. As the former U.S. attorney general Ramsey Clark has noted, NATO is “a surrogate military police force for globalization and U.S. world economic domination,” that is to say the domination of the international bankers.
A private company offering military support has expressed interest in working with the Icelandic government. Many Icelanders are strongly opposed to the idea.
The company in question is known as ECA Program. They are a private company that works in military training and support for governments around the world, and have most recently worked with India. Their interest in Iceland is apparently strong enough to warrant the use of images from Keflavík – where the NATO base used to be located until it closed in 2006 – on their website. They have already asked the Icelandic government if they can utilize the base for their private air force, and are willing to pay 200 billion ISK to do so.
However, the Campaign Against Militarism – in Icelandic group originally founded in opposition to the NATO base – is strongly against the idea. They point out that the comany’s background is shrouded in mystery, and that they amount to a mercenary group. Furthermore, the company was denied operation permission in Canada.
Iceland, although a NATO country, does not have a military of its own. In fact, the vast majority of Icelanders polled have expressed opposition to supporting military efforts in Iraq,

Gaza - Seven years ago, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) caterpillar crushed Rachel Corrie, an International Solidarity Movement (ISM) activist, to death in Rafah, in the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip. She was wearing a fluorescent vest, screaming through a microphone at the armored vehicle as it bore down upon her as she tried to use her body to defend a Palestinian pharmacist's home. She was on a pile of dirt, and as the bulldozer rumbled forward, she tried to descend from it. She slipped and fell under the vehicle, which ran her over. It seems impossible that the driver did not see her, and eyewitnesses say that he looked directly at Corrie shortly before killing her.
"Corrie came to Gaza in 2003, during the Second Intifada, taking a sabbatical year from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She proposed a project involving making Rafah and Olympia sister-cities, and working as an ISM volunteer. After training in Ramallah in techniques in non-violent direct-action, she went to Rafah as a human shield, intending to use her body to protect Palestinians from the IDF."
Last week, I went to a small commemoration at the place where the Israeli Army killed Corrie. There was no trace of the house, just an earthen hillock. The Army had successfully leveled the home later that year. The area where Corrie died is now studded with tents covering the entrances to the tunnels that supply the Gazans with the food, fuel, and consumer goods they rely upon to survive. The World Bank estimates that 80 percent of Gaza's imports come through the tunnels
The excavated earth from the tunnels created an inadvertent burial mound, atop which ISM volunteers placed a bouquet of white flowers and posters with black and white images of Rachel, and then sang a few songs, led by Vittorio Arrigoni, an activist from Milan, leading those assembled in singing "Bella Ciao."

A new European intelligence agency Europol has been handed frightening powers to pry into everyone lives. The agency of the EU can access information on everyone and anyone including their political opinions and sexual preferences if it suspects, rightly or wrongly, that they may be involved in any “preparatory act” which could lead to criminal activity.
I’m sure some will say that calling Europol the Gestapo is unrealistic and over the top but if you consider that during the reign of the Nazi’s they would have to infiltrate Social Democratic and Communist opposition where as today the powers that be can sit in an office performing information gathering using phone tapping, email and internet usage, are Europol not a worse treath to our freedoms?
The vagueness of the Hague-based force’s remit sparked furious protests in the UK yesterday with critics warning that the EU snoopers threaten our right to free speech. It is understood the agency will concentrate on anyone thought “xenophobic” or likely to commit a crime involving the environment, computers or motor vehicles.

There’s now another reason to avoid margarine. It can make you stupid.
According to researchers at the University of Auckland, children who ate margarine every day had significantly lower IQ scores by the age of three-and-a-half than those who did not.1
And children who were underweight at birth had scores that were even lower by the time they were seven.
The tragedy here is that margarine was sold to us as a “healthier” alternative to butter. In fact, it may be the unhealthiest “food” ever created.
You sure wouldn’t know this by reading the labels. They have statements like “100% Natural” and “Mother Nature’s Own” and “Heart Healthy” and the like all over them. But they are really nothing but chemical concoctions made in a laboratory.
The vegetable oils used in most margarine are hydrogenated to make them solid. This turns the oil into highly unhealthy trans-fatty acids.
These man-made fatty acids have been shown to raise “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and lower “good” cholesterol (HDL). They have also been linked to inflammation, one of the major causes of heart disease.2
I came across another gem of a study the other day. It’s titled, “Margarine Intake and Subsequent Coronary Heart Disease in Men.”
This study is backed up by the world-famous Framingham Heart Study. They tracked people for 20 years and recorded the number of heart attacks suffered.
The results were eye-opening.
As margarine consumption increased, heart attacks went up. As butter consumption increased, heart attacks declined.3
And that’s not all…
During the second decade, the group eating the most margarine had 77% more heart attacks than the group eating none!
Avoiding margarine may not only make you smarter, it could prevent you from having a heart attack or stroke.
Butter is a much healthier choice. But don’t settle for just any type of butter. I recommend organic butter from grass-fed cows.
It contains short- and medium-chain fatty acids, which are easily converted to energy. This means that the fat in butter is less likely to be stored as fat in your body.
Plus, it’s packed with vitamins and essential nutrients your body needs.
And here’s a little tidbit you probably wouldn’t know: Butter contains more vitamin A than carrots.
It also contains vitamin E and selenium. These three nutrients help protect your heart from free radical damage.4

Could a strange substance found by an Ark-La-Tex man be part of secret government testing program? That's the question at the heart of a phenomenon called "Chemtrails." In a KSLA News 12 investigation, Reporter Jeff Ferrell shows us the results of testing we had done about what's in our skies.
"It seemed like some mornings it was just criss-crossing the whole sky. It was just like a giant checkerboard," described Bill Nichols. He snapped several photos of the strange clouds from his home in Stamps, in southwest Arkansas. Nichols said these unusual clouds begin as normal contrails from a jet engine. But unlike normal contrails, these do 'not' fade away.
Soon after a recent episode he saw particles in the air. "We'd see it drop to the ground in a haze," added Nichols. He then noticed the material collecting on the ground.
"This is water and stuff that I collected in bowls. I had it sitting out in my backyard in my dad's pick-up truck," said Nichols as he handed us a mason jar in the KSLA News 12 parking lot back in September after driving down from Arkansas.
KSLA News 12 had the sample tested at a lab. The results: A high level of barium, 6.8 parts per million, (ppm). That's more than three times the toxic level set by the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA.
Armed with these lab results about the high levels of barium found in our sample, we decided to contact the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. They told us that, 'yes,' these levels are very unusual. But at the same time they added the caveat that proving the source is a whole 'nother matter.
We discovered during our investigation that Barium is a hallmark of other chemtrail testing. This phenomenon even attracted the attention of a Los Angeles network affiliate, which aired a report entitled, "Toxic Sky?"
There's already no shortage of unclassified weather modification programs by the government. But those who fear chemtrails could be secret biological and chemical testing on the public point to the 1977 U.S. Senate hearings which confirmed 239 populated areas had been contaminated with biological agents between 1949 and 1969. Later, the 1994 Rockefeller Report concluded hundreds of thousands of military personnel were also subjected to secret biological experiments over the last 60-years.
But could secret testing be underway yet again? "I'd rather it be something inert and you know something that's not causing any damage but I'd like to know what it is," concluded Nichols.
KSLA News 12 discovered chemtrails are even mentioned by name in the initial draft of HR 2977 back in 2001, under the Space Preservation Act. But the military denies any such program exists.
It turns out, until just nine years ago the government had the right, under U.S. law, to conduct secret testing on the American public, under specific conditions. Only a public outcry repealed part of that law, with some "exceptions."
Mark Ryan, Director of the Poison Control Center, explained that short term exposure to barium can lead to anything from stomach to chest pains, with long-term exposure causing blood pressure problems.

Could a strange substance found by an Ark-La-Tex man be part of secret government testing program? That's the question at the heart of a phenomenon called "Chemtrails." In a KSLA News 12 investigation, Reporter Jeff Ferrell shows us the results of testing we had done about what's in our skies.
"It seemed like some mornings it was just criss-crossing the whole sky. It was just like a giant checkerboard," described Bill Nichols. He snapped several photos of the strange clouds from his home in Stamps, in southwest Arkansas. Nichols said these unusual clouds begin as normal contrails from a jet engine. But unlike normal contrails, these do 'not' fade away.
Soon after a recent episode he saw particles in the air. "We'd see it drop to the ground in a haze," added Nichols. He then noticed the material collecting on the ground.
"This is water and stuff that I collected in bowls. I had it sitting out in my backyard in my dad's pick-up truck," said Nichols as he handed us a mason jar in the KSLA News 12 parking lot back in September after driving down from Arkansas.
KSLA News 12 had the sample tested at a lab. The results: A high level of barium, 6.8 parts per million, (ppm). That's more than three times the toxic level set by the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA.
Armed with these lab results about the high levels of barium found in our sample, we decided to contact the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. They told us that, 'yes,' these levels are very unusual. But at the same time they added the caveat that proving the source is a whole 'nother matter.
We discovered during our investigation that Barium is a hallmark of other chemtrail testing. This phenomenon even attracted the attention of a Los Angeles network affiliate, which aired a report entitled, "Toxic Sky?"
There's already no shortage of unclassified weather modification programs by the government. But those who fear chemtrails could be secret biological and chemical testing on the public point to the 1977 U.S. Senate hearings which confirmed 239 populated areas had been contaminated with biological agents between 1949 and 1969. Later, the 1994 Rockefeller Report concluded hundreds of thousands of military personnel were also subjected to secret biological experiments over the last 60-years.
But could secret testing be underway yet again? "I'd rather it be something inert and you know something that's not causing any damage but I'd like to know what it is," concluded Nichols.
KSLA News 12 discovered chemtrails are even mentioned by name in the initial draft of HR 2977 back in 2001, under the Space Preservation Act. But the military denies any such program exists.
It turns out, until just nine years ago the government had the right, under U.S. law, to conduct secret testing on the American public, under specific conditions. Only a public outcry repealed part of that law, with some "exceptions."
Mark Ryan, Director of the Poison Control Center, explained that short term exposure to barium can lead to anything from stomach to chest pains, with long-term exposure causing blood pressure problems.

Are we a foreign occupied nation? Obama British, CIA and Dual Israeli citizen?
Vatic Note: It appears an investigator was hired and much has come out now. Only in court will the truth be known for sure, but the evidence is now sufficient for us to place it up for consideration. He was also a british citizen on his fathers side and 8th cousin to Bush on the British side and an 11th cousin to Cheney also on the British side. His passports for the time he spent in Pakistan would let us know which nationality he used to travel since US citizens were banned from traveling to Pakistan during that time. I do have addition links to prove Obama worked for the CIA based on the dates provided here. Also remember Michelle Obama was a member of the CFR in Chicago, the original one, until the name was changed and the main CFR was moved and now the Chicago one is just a branch.

I recently had the great pleasure of talking with Dr. James David Manning who has been ministering to the people of Harlem since 1981. He is now the Senior Pastor at ATLAH which stands for All the Land Anointed Holy, Manning’s inspired name for Harlem as of September 14, 1991.
Dr. Manning heads the Columbia Obama Treason Trial which is scheduled for May 14-19, 2010 at the ATLAH building at 38 West 123rd Street in ATLAH, New York, 10027. Unfortunately, the Department of Justice and the Supreme Court have failed in their duties to uphold the Constitution and address the legitimacy and other questionable issues surrounding the White House’s current resident. So, Dr. Manning, being a longtime resident of the Columbia University area, the school that Obama allegedly attended, began an intense investigation into Obama’s educational background and discovered some profound discrepancies.
According to Dr. Manning, Obama (born in 1961) enrolled at the very pricey Occidental College in Los Angeles, California in 1979 and was recruited there in 1980 by the CIA which has made it a practice since its inception to recruit college students. He was, by his own admission, a “C” student, a dope smoker and a member of the Marxist Club at Occidental, a co-educational liberal arts college. In 1981, Obama allegedly transferred from Occidental to Columbia University. It is atypical for a student to begin their education in one four-year school and then transfer to another school. Columbia University requires that incoming students pass certain academic requirements which Obama apparently lacked. However, Columbia had a foreign student program and the CIA has major connections and influence with Columbia and the nation’s other educational facilities.

MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- It looks like nothing more than a 2,500-acre military complex, but sinister plans are afoot. One day soon -- if it hasn't happened already -- law-abiding U.S. citizens will be rounded up and imprisoned here by their oppressive federal government. It's perfectly obvious to anyone with eyes to see the traffic signs that direct FEMA trucks this way and that: This is one of the 800 or more detention camps being built by a government gone mad.
At least that's what more and more Americans believe. A fear that the federal government will concoct a pretense for declaring martial law and confine patriotic dissidents to concentration camps -- a conspiracy theory that goes back decades and was especially prevalent during the militia movement of the 1990s -- is spreading as the country experiences a surge in groups on the radical right.

In contradistinction to war, sanctions are widely portrayed as necessary, almost a healthy medicine to bring about change in the opponent’s policies. However, as the history of the West–Iran conflict proves, sanctions have kept the crisis alive rather than contribute to its resolution. Nonetheless, Western governments do not seem to have lost their dubious fascination for them.
As the call for "crippling sanctions' became morally questionable last summer when the impressive Green wave shook the streets of Tehran for fear of wrecking the same, today the benign-sounding "smart" or "targeted" sanctions are on the tip of everyone’s tongue. Yet a close look reveals a great deal of wishful thinking as to the effects of such sanctions.

The CIA's extensive use of unmanned drones to kill alleged terrorists in Pakistan and elsewhere is arguably against international law and raises the possibility that top U.S. officials will someday be tried at the Hague for war crimes, a law professor told a congressional oversight panel on Tuesday.
Despite the rapidly increasing use of drones in warfare and anti-terrorism -- and the legal and ethical issues their use raises -- the U.S. government has never publicly advanced a legal justification for sending its drones on targeted killing runs overseas; up until Tuesday, Congress hadn't even held a single hearing into the question.

I'm sure not many fathers think about whether their children will defend them one day from accusations that they ordered torture. Dick Cheney would probably be one of the few who has--and how nice that he got that lucky. Since her father left office, Liz Cheney has been his most visible and effective advocate. She's given speeches at conservative gatherings, written op-eds for publications like the Wall Street Journal and made dozens of television appearances, all aimed at defending her father's record and carrying his standard. And occasionally she finds herself having to claim that a technique developed by torturers as a method of torture (waterboarding) was not really torture when her father approved it.
To a lesser extent than his daughter, but still at an unprecedented level for a former vice president, Dick Cheney has also taken a highly public role, popping up regularly to attack the Obama administration's national security decisions. This past May, explaining her father's inordinately high profile, Liz said on MSNBC, "I don't think he planned to be doing this, you know, when they left office in January," but the administration's policy shifts, as well as the concern that "perhaps [Obama] would even be prosecuting former members of the Bush administration," had necessitated the former VP's re-emergence. During this period, the Washington Monthly's Steve Benen counted "12 appearances, in nine and a half days, spanning four networks" for the younger Cheney.
The right's most famous father-daughter act has also been active behind the scenes. Liz has allied with neoconservative mover Bill Kristol to found Keep America Safe, infamous of late for its ads attacking as traitorous Justice Department lawyers who once "represented or advocated for terrorist detainees." The ad was so scurrilous that even Republican lawyers and Bush administration officials like former Attorney General Michael Mukasey and former Solicitor General Ted Olson condemned it. But whatever blowback the neocon attack machine may suffer for this particular overreach, the "Department of Jihad" smear is nonetheless a startling declaration that they just don't give a damn. (After all, what's a bit of rank dishonesty in an effort to head off almost certain Islamofascist doom?) With the Cheneys on board, neocons have become increasingly brazen in their accusations that President Obama is "inviting the next attack" by not sufficiently embracing the fact that "we are at war."

Mohammad Moqim watches in despair as his men struggle with their AK-47 automatic rifles, doing their best to hit man-size targets 50 meters away. A few of the police trainees lying prone in the mud are decent shots, but the rest shoot clumsily, and fumble as they try to reload their weapons. The Afghan National Police (ANP) captain sighs as he dismisses one group of trainees and orders 25 more to take their places on the firing line. "We are still at zero," says Captain Moqim, 35, an eight-year veteran of the force. "They don't listen, are undisciplined, and will never be real policemen."
Poor marksmanship is the least of it. Worse, crooked Afghan cops supply much of the ammunition used by the Taliban, according to Saleh Mohammed, an insurgent commander in Helmand province. The bullets and rocket-propelled grenades sold by the cops are cheaper and of better quality than the ammo at local markets, he says. It's easy for local cops to concoct credible excuses for using so much ammunition, especially because their supervisors try to avoid areas where the Taliban are active. Mohammed says local police sometimes even stage fake firefights so that if higher-ups question their outsize orders for ammo, villagers will say they've heard fighting.
America has spent more than $6 billion since 2002 in an effort to create an effective Afghan police force, buying weapons, building police academies, and hiring defense contractors to train the recruits—but the program has been a disaster. More than $322 million worth of invoices for police training were approved even though the funds were poorly accounted for, according to a government audit, and fewer than 12 percent of the country's police units are capable of operating on their own. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, the State Department's top representative in the region, has publicly called the Afghan police "an inadequate organization, riddled with corruption." During the Obama administration's review of Afghanistan policy last year, "this issue received more attention than any other except for the question of U.S. troop levels," Holbrooke later told NEWSWEEK. "We drilled down deep into this."

As President Obama prepares for his meeting today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a look at Netanyahu's track record on Jerusalem leaves one wondering whether Obama is dealing with a non-negotiator or a pragmatist.
President Obama will meet privately today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office dining room. This is Netanyahu's second closed meeting in a row, after his meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was moved at the last minute from the State Department with press availability to Netanyahu's hotel suite. The prime minister appears to be showing some distance from the United States, if only in photo-ops.
Netanyahu's meetings come on the heels of the annual American Israel Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference, where both Netanyahu and Clinton spoke. AIPAC, with more than 100,000 members, refers to itself as "America's Pro-Israel Lobby" and is often considered to be one of the most powerful lobbying organizations in the United States.
The meetings are ostensibly taking place in an attempt to repair the damage done when the Israeli government announced that another 1,600 Israeli settlements would be built in East Jerusalem on the same day Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Israel with US Middle East peace envoy George Mitchell in an attempt to get both Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table.
