Universities have become bastions of managerial madness.  The trends began some time ago, when money became the ultimate pursuit, and Mr Dollar became chancellor and chief.  The obsession with obtaining grants, the panjandrums awarding grants, the siphoning off funds, underwriting projects, have all made the academy a sad state.  Since universities now obsess about having a “marketing unit”, the idea of making education a matter of commercial viability rather than educational worth has become all important.

There is another aspect to this development.  Gone are the days when academic exposure was confined, left to the irate letters to the editor section or the occasionally controversial scribble. The great academics of history also doubled up as intellectuals, revolutionaries and, as A. J. P. Taylor showed so well, teledons.They wore many hats in the pursuit of learning, refusing to be holed up as scholar squirrels. Now, the scholar squirrels are everywhere, and more vulnerable. University establishments watch with eagle attentiveness to see that appropriate behaviour in the public eye is observed.

In such an environment, opinions must be carefully expressed.  It is one thing to go through the coddling set of such a publication as The Conversation, where academics are managed by journalists through the minefield of implications an article might involve.  Suggestions of slander, sauciness and political inappropriateness are culled. Bland outcomes are preferable.

France Attacks Free Speech Regarding Israel

Vatic Note:  Aaah, it appears the khazars have taken over France.  That now makes, Canada, Australia, Britain,  and France, with the USA almost taken over, but we are still battling the bad guys, so its not a given yet.

On the other side of the coin,  Iceland took the khazars on and won, and their economy is now on the upswing, as did Argentina and they are also on the upswing.   It appears that we must do as Iceland did if we are to prevail and recover.  NO WORLD WAR III, EITHER.

Let the khazar bankers send their own children to die for profit and gain.  We are not going to do it this time around as we did in both previous planned World Wars.  The khazar Bankers will have to find someone else to do their dirty work.

If they want to kill off Muslims and Christians, they will have to take the risk and do it themselves.  No more using Americans as substitutes for their soldiers being used for empire building and wealth recovering world wars.  Its time the central bankers internationally become the focus of our attention and actions.

The free exchange of ideas is the only way to make progress. Laws that restrict free speech are a crime against us all and a roadblock to progress. In France this was made obvious when a French court upheld a lower court’s conviction of 12 people who were arrested for wearing shirts with the slogan “Long live Palestine, boycott Israel” and for passing out leaflets that contained the statement “buying Israeli products means legitimizing crimes in Gaza.”
 
The Jewish publication Forward reports:

In confirming the sentences, the Court of Cassation cited the French republic’s law on Freedom of the Press, which prescribes imprisonment or a fine of up to $50,000 for parties that “provoke discrimination, hatred or violence toward a person or group of people on grounds of their origin, their belonging or their not belonging to an ethnic group, a nation, a race or a certain religion.”
 
It’s hypocritical and amazing they have the phrase “Freedom of the Press” in a law which attacks free speech. To be more honest they should rename the title of the law to “Restrictions of the Press.”
