So either go to your bank and request one without RFID chip in it or find another bank, local or state, that won't chip it. Mine is not chipped but then I am with a local family owned state bank. No international banks for me, thank you.)
UPDATE: On our last news trip to Cleveland just a week ago (August 2012) we found more and more people with these cards. All readable. We have also noticed a high increase in the amount of them issued in Europe, Asia and Australia and we are able to read those as well. It has only gotten worse.
No fix in sight.
The card number is hidden to protect the holder. The full 16 digit account number, expiration date, and dynamic ccv code is able to be scanned. Everything needed to make a purchase. We were able to make phone orders, and even put the data on a hotel room key magnetic stripe and make a purchase at a store.
