Vatic Note:   We usually don't do this, and instead request these be posted in the comments section, however,  this letter is very indicative of average Americans sentiments right now, that it fits with the global mood that is prevailing everywhere around the world, so that qualified it for a separate posting.  Thanks Linda for sharing your feelings and allowing those feelings to be aired in a public forum.

Dear Vatic...I wrote this last night; perhaps you can post it.

After watching the Health Care Reform bill vote, I am convinced we, the people, have got to raise the bar regarding our government, whether they be Democrats or Republicans or Independents.

I've always thought leaders were supposed to show diplomacy and emotional restraint under pressure. Our Congress's behavior was embarrassing and degrading to us, the American people.

Both Republicans and Democrats have misled us over time. Bush & Cheney were in office when 911 happened; yet, claim to have kept us safe during their administration. They "erased" the surplus of cash raised during the Clinton administration and led us into the huge deficit we now face; yet, claim no responsibility for that and have led the charge to blame Obama.

The Republicans may not have voted for the Health Care Reform bill; however, they sure were in office and involved during 911 and responsible for backing our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan along with the Democrats. The Republicans are saying the American taxpayers do not want their tax money spent on abortion....we, the American taxpayers do not want our money spent on the two wars and on the corporate bailouts...did they listen then and are they listening now...the hypocrisy of both parties is incredible!

I've zeroed in on the Republicans because right now they are "leading" a very ugly campaign regarding the Health Reform bill that is creating violence in our streets....this is a very serious matter.  But democrats are no different, making this all seem like just a game for our benefit.

Both parties flip-flop often, break their campaign promises, ignore representing us, the people; and, instead, do what is best for their own political careers. Let us, the people, put ourselves first, by voting for the best person, regardless of Republican or Democrat, or Independent, for that matter - stopping our own "flip-flopping" every time we allow ourselves to be drawn into the ugly politics and campaign smears of our representatives.

Our behavior, as Americans, is at a very low point, to say the least! Our politicians certainly are not upholding the values of a leadership nation. If anything, they are and have made a mockery of what democracy was meant to stand for in the eyes of ourselves and the world. Let us rise above their examples and become the leaders of what our country was meant to be...let us rise above and become a people united for what is good, and right, and just, kind and compassionate in the world! submitted by Linda LoCastro
