In many ways, the brain is like a computer, and so-called "multitasking" is one of those ways.<br />When you run two computer programs at once, the computer is rapidly switching back and forth between the two programs. That's why the computer is running more slowly.<br />Your brain is doing the same thing, with one exception: Each time the brain switches to the other task, it loses time and increases the chances of making a mistake.<br />Thanks for a very useful article. I'd like to add one thing to it: Get enough sleep. A lot of people tell themselves that insufficient rest is a mark of intelligence or macho. It's neither. In fact, creative people need more sleep because our minds are more complex.<br />Someone once told me that I have a sleep disorder because I take a nap after lunch.
