It must, furthermore, be relevant that the ancient Greek word for iron was sideros: this, when combined with the obviously related Latin word for star, sidus (genitive sideris, plural sidera), as ‘IRON STAR’, lends new meaning to the concept of a large partially-metalliferous body ...”

This makes me wonder about the word INSIDIOUS....and not in a good way.Donnanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5848012286026687939.post-75845336115575037952015-03-23T12:42:38.181-06:002015-03-23T12:42:38.181-06:00One thing I never see discussed is that if the sol...One thing I never see discussed is that if the solar system were indeed rearranged by the Destroyer, then the planetary mechanics would be completely different on the next pass. Without the gravitational pull (and whatever electrical effects we currently barely understand) of Tiamat intereacting with the intruder, the path of the Destroyer would not be the same on subsequent passes. I would be more worried about it interacting with the asteroid belt, than any direct effect on the earth. Of course, a rain of asteroids flung into our path could be just as civilization- ending an event as a close flyby. I doubt if Tiamat was directly struck, since that would have so modified the orbit of the Destroyer that we would likely never see it again. Planetary mechanics can be thought of in terms of a pool table. The striking ball has it's path changed like the struck ball.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
